Nutrition and Healthy Eating at Talavera

The preschool children have been talking about healthy eating and what food is good for us.

During group times, we have been looking at different pictures of food and each child has been able to place these foods under either the “Good Food” or “Not so good Food” signs.

During this group time the children were developing their memory recognition skills as well as their social and language skills.
To continue on with this topic the children were given the opportunity to decorate different pieces of fruit to add to our Preschool Fruit Basket. The children used many different mediums such as paint, glue, paddle pop sticks and match sticks to decorate the fruit.

On Thursday 24th March Magic Craig came to visit our centre. He presented his show called “The Nutrition Magician” to the toddlers and preschoolers. He taught the children about healthy and unhealthy foods. He also taught them that they should all “Eat well. Live well.” Magic Craig involved all of the children in his show through repetition of phrases, picture talks and physical interaction. All the children were able to have a turn of holding Mr Rainbow, the Nutrition Magician's special rabbit. Magic Craig re-inforced the learning on healthy eating and nutrition that the children do every day.
