Mother's Day Morning Tea - Roseville

The children worked very hard over the last week creating wonderful sun catchers for their mums to hang at home. The Butterflies did drawings of their mums and told their teachers why they loved their mum.

Dean “I love my Mum because she gives me hugs.”
Hamish “I love my Mum because she is nice to me”
Victoria “I love my Mum because she takes me everywhere”
Aiden “I love my Mum because she gives me hugs”
Tom “I love my Mum because she loves me”
Chloe “I love my Mum because she is nice to me”
Aneliese “I love my Mum because she is the best”
Erica “I love my Mum because I Like her”
Angus “I love my Mum because she is nice and beautiful”
Isaac “I love my Mum because she buys me stickers”
George “I love my Mum because she is beautiful and she asks me every morning “Did you have a beautiful sleep?””
Liam “I love my Mum because she is beautiful
Juliet “I love my Mum because she has the same hair as me”
These beautiful pictures and quotes are displayed on the room wall for the morning tea.

Once all the mums and grandmothers were settled in we had a story time reading a book about Mums and then on to Scones and lamingtons for tea. The mums and grandmothers sat with the children and there was lots of happy chatter. The scones with jam and cream were a great hit but the lamingtons were quickly munched upon by the children and a few grandmothers as well.
After washing hands the children moved to the mat area and sang some of their favourite songs and shook out their ‘sillies’ while singing and dancing.

To finish a fun filled morning we then went to the tables in our rooms and had fun activities to show off what we love doing during the day. We had painting, collage, dancing, play dough, icing biscuits with bright icing and sprinkles, puzzles and building blocks. We had baby siblings being passed around between mothers and grand mothers and enjoying all the noise and attention while the older children had faces full of excitement at showing off their pictures on the class walls.

We hope everyone had a wonderful time and had a very special Mother’s Day with us at Acre Woods Roseville.

How this experience links to EYLF outcomes:
Learning Outcome 1.4
Children learn to interact in relation to others with care, empathy and respect.
Through out the week children have continually voiced their love and respect for their mothers and showed empathy towards other friends who didn’t have a mother or grandmother at the morning tea.
